According to Wabasha County Sheriff Rodney Bartsh, deputies responded to the scene shortly after 6:45 p.m. on Saturday, May 31, 2025. The crash occurred in the 31000 block of County Road 67, roughly two miles west of Elgin.
Upon arrival, first responders discovered two individuals in the UTV and one in the pickup truck. Authorities confirmed that Skylar Slawson Helgeson, who was operating the UTV, succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene approximately 30 minutes after emergency crews arrived.
The UTV’s passenger, identified as Jared Haugen, and the pickup truck’s driver, 34-year-old Jeffrey Timm, were also involved in the accident. At this time, no official updates have been released regarding their conditions.
